My History
Education Timeline
Here is a short overview of my creative journey and personal development through the different arts.
This was a chance to improve my photography in the hardest of conditions, so of course I couldn’t resist doing it. Briefly, I would accompany groups of people with my camera as they ventured into aquatic environments such as rivers and gorges. With an eye for existing and creative compositions, I aimed to encapsulate the essence of these experiences in a single shot. This role is a blend of excitement and creativity that resonates deeply with me.
This time also gave me a chance to rest while still learning following graduation.
2022-2023
Summer 2023
First class Honours
An accumulation of all my understanding and development in how to accurately research, locate strong insight, effectively explore solutions, plan and execute a design with consideration to material choice, and articulate product concept and solution effectively. Finally, to manufacture a high-quality final product with complementing branding athletics and brand identity to appeal to target consumers.
Third year direct entrance
This is what I was looking for. I enjoy making, however I love problem-solving insight gathering solution making. This year really confirmed that the mindset I have is one of a product designer. My past experience as a jewellery student only enhanced my ability to design by understanding how to make.
2021-2022
2020-2021
Gap Year, Work at B&Q
This year away from education was eye-opening and gave me breathing space to consider my options.
B&Q gave me real-life understanding of the work place. Being on the service desk I dealt with a multitude of different challenges, which grew my confidence in my ability to effectively manage problems and solve them. My time here also reinforced my belief that even in times of adversity, a positive attitude and a smile can create a lasting impact on both colleagues and customers.
Jewellery and metal work design
My time with jewellery design taught me much in the way of how to think as a maker or crafter, not just a designer on paper. Techniques process skills and understanding how, this understanding now helps me greatly with consideration of the practicality as I design and how to plan accordingly for the unexpected as well as extra time.
2018-2020
2017-2018
Experimentation of the arts
This was my time to understand what careers were available to me through my imagination, creativity and energy for the arts. I landed on exploring the fine jewellery crafts, having fallen for the process of making and challenge of working with really fiddly small designs and tools.
Portfolio Course
A small college based on the west coast of the Highlands in Ullapool. My time there was a fantastic development opportunity that taught me what I could achieve when I applied myself outside of my comfort zone, trying new mediums and art tools. This I have taken forward, always willing to try it all and not be afraid of the unknown.
